01
Project purpose
Riverland has no comprehensive stormwater system. During moderate to heavy rainfall, water collects on streets and properties because there is nowhere for it to drain. This project will install a drainage system that collects stormwater and carries it out of the neighborhood.
$79.6M
Contract value for the Riverland improvements, awarded to David Mancini & Sons by the City of Fort Lauderdale.
~2 years
Estimated construction duration, measured from the second notice to proceed to substantial completion.

Scope of work
Drainage pipes and structures
New storm drains and underground pipes on Riverland streets to collect stormwater and carry it away from homes and roads.
Pump stations and force mains
New stormwater pump stations and force mains that move collected stormwater out of the neighborhood.
Exfiltration and water quality structures
Trenches and structures that let treated stormwater soak back into the ground instead of ponding on streets.
Water and sewer line relocation
Water and sewer lines that conflict with the new drainage system will be relocated.
Restoration
Roadways, driveways and swales dug up for the work will be restored once construction is complete.
This project is part of Fortify Lauderdale, Phase 1 of the City's Stormwater Master Plan.
